CHIME Preschool Staff and Services

The CHIME staff includes fully credentialed special education teachers, with expertise in early childhood special education, who have primary responsibility for the implementation of each child's Individualized Education Program (IEP). In collaboration with Child and Family Studies Center (CFSC) staff, other CHIME staff, and parents, the special education teachers develop and model classroom modifications, lesson plans, and behavior intervention strategies. The special education teachers assess children’s development and report progress towards IEP goals throughout the year. They also facilitate children's transitions into and out of the program, and attend IEP meetings. Finally, the special education teachers supervise and coordinate the inclusion assistants.

Individualized Speech and Language, Occupational and Physical therapies based on Individualized Educational Program Plans are provided by licensed speech and language pathologist, and occupational and physical therapists in the context of the regular classroom and outdoor activities to facilitate the development of language and communication, fine and gross motor skills in a social and functional context.
