Our Campus

The CHIME Early Education Programs are housed at the CSUN Child and Family Studies Center on the campus of California State University, Northridge (CSUN).

• Design Philosophy: The interior is designed to be a "home-like" atmosphere, providing a nurturing, safe, and secure environment, according to the Parent Handbook.
• Classroom Areas: The classrooms are structured around active learning, featuring specialized areas for art, dramatic play, blocks, books, language materials, and technology/computers.
• Layout: The facility is designed to support both individual, small group, and large group activities, allowing children to move between learning centers.
• Observation Features: As a lab school, the facility includes features designed for the observation of children and research by university students and faculty, with parent permission.

Our Playground (Outdoor Environment)

• Natural Setting: The playground is described as a large, naturalistic, and shaded play yard.
• Features & Equipment: It features a variety of active play equipment, including a sandbox, swings, a jungle gym, and tricycle paths.
• Learning Areas: The outdoor space is equipped with water tables, sandbox, and other sensory exploration tables.
• Amenities: The area includes large, grassy open spaces, hopscotch, and areas for sidewalk chalk.
• Dining: Weather permitting, children eat snacks and lunches outside under shaded trees.
• The facility is accredited by the National Academy of Early Childhood Programs (NAEYC).
